The Open College Network West Midlands Level 3 Award in Dog Training Theory is part of the Canine Training and Behavior certificate has been developed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to pursue a career working in the canine care and welfare sector. It can be studied as a stand alone Award or as part of the Canine Training and Behaviour certificate.

4. Be able to apply classical and operant conditioning in dog training programmes.
4.1. Apply classical and operant conditioning principles to training dogs.
4.2. Evaluate different training methods.
4.3. Evaluate training programmes.
5. Be able to design a training programme for a dog.
5.1. Apply learning theories in the design of training programmes.
5.2. Explain how to teach a range of different exercises to a dog

Entry requirements: This course is suitable for those working in, or wishing to work in the Canine industry or pet owners that would like to increase their knowledge about dogs. A knowledge of working with dogs is not required. Minimum age 18 years
